How do I adjust my business due to COVID?
How do I adjust my business due to COVID?
A dear friend of mine and a business client asked this question today.
At first I listened to what she was experiencing.
What were her challenges?
What was the real issue that she was looking to overcome?
It is clear that COVID has asked all of us to change. I don't think we are going back. We can no longer operate from what we used to know. What we used to know is old, archaic and not up for the present moment.
In 2007, I moved from Chicago to Atlanta. I found myself challenged at the circular roads, hills and found myself confused because I did not know if I was going North, South, East, or West at any given time. When I lived in Chicago, it was easy. The city is a grid with one side of it being a huge lake (Lake Michigan). There were streets that were North-South and streets that were East-West. You can tell how far you are and how long it took to get somewhere because it was a grid. Easy. I can predict distance and time and plan accordingly.
Atlanta, is a city that is inland filled with hills and mountains. Roads are circular, single lanes, around mountains that if you happen to be going in the wrong direction, you have to wait until you are in a clearing.
It was extremely confusing. What I knew no longer worked. All my logic had to be thrown out and I had to start from scratch. I had to look at the terrain that I am in present time to help me navigate and get around.
This is our COVID times. We can no longer use what we used to know to operate in this time. What you did back then worked back then because it was the present at that time. We are in a NEW present NOW. Welcome to NOW.
Trust your gut. Times have always been changing. Your inner knowing of what will work and won't work is still inside of you as it was back then. No longer can we use our past knowledge to forge our path.
Here are some tips for your inner guidance:
1. Know what you do not want.
Sometimes we don't know what we want or how it should be. But, we do know what we absolutely do NOT want. This is really easy. These are the first 100 things that come up when we try to think about what we do want. They are blaring at us with neon signs. They are so loud, we can't get past the noise to get to the quiet inner voice that is whispering at us. So, let's give them some time and space and acknowledgement.
2. Jot down what you want.
Write down all the wild and crazy things you want. No judging. No shame. World is your oyster. Play it to your hearts content. These are the things you see other people having and secretly desiring. Write them down. Give them time and attention. Put them on paper.
3. Grasp what is in your reach.
We feel like life is all or nothing. Many of us are busy just moving from one day to the next treading water waiting to get to the land of bliss. I suggest that you start to look at your list and start identifying which ones are so close that you can grasp it. Just reach out and grab it. Experience it. Enjoy it.
4. COVID Benefits.
COVID has leveled the playing field for all of us. We are all on one planet experiencing the same inner self. It has inspired us to connect at a deeper level by understanding that we are all challenged. Not any one of us is spared from pain or suffering. We feel each other. We are learning so much about us and coming together.
I am not brushing over the pain that COVID has caused. I see it as a change that we all have been asking for - a new Earth.
Welcome Home.
Love is all there is.
